Recent events prove that many customers can easily be taken advantage of by a contractor that goes out of business and leaves the customer with an unfinished job. Cornerstone Kitchens has been in business since 1988 and has remained committed to getting the job done. Over the years, I have seen many companies come and go, and I would like to provide some tips to ensure that you are not taken advantage of by one of these “fly by night” companies:

Make sure they have been in business for at least 5 years
Contact Consumer Fraud Awareness at (239) 931.0550 to verify the company’s reputation
Call the Department of Business and Professional Regulations at (239) 338.2373 to verify that the contractor has a current license
Find out the location of the business and check out the facility to see if they have state of the art equipment and a showroom
Ask for a list of referrals of previous customers
Be cautious of a company whose owner(s) do not identify themselves to you in person or in advertising
Do not give cash to any contractor
